NaNoWriMo this year. Is it because I have too much time on my hands? Is it because I want to torture myself? Is it because I feel I need yet another thing to distract me from the comic? Not really. Mostly it's because I want to get something done and feel like I accomplished something. And if I make it through it this will, then I will. This shouldn't affect you guys too much. I'm afraid to say November was looking to be light on updates anyway what with a 5 day trip to the SpaceVision conference and Thanksgiving. That's not to say there won't be updates in November, but probably only 4 or 5. Still better than nothing though, right? Anyway, what this also means for you is that as I write the story, I'll post the work for you all to read. I'm still thinking up the story, but it's likely going to be something involving a physics grad student and the end of the world, so you might enjoy reading it. Perhaps the best way to think of it is as the story being my way of making it up to you for the sparse updates. I also wanted to let everyone know that new Snow Patrol Album is quite good. I mention this mostly because I've been highly disappointed in every album released by every band/artist I like for the last year, so this is a welcome change from that. I do apologize, but I had a combination of writer's block along with some school craziness. Even still, at least I'm updating more often than some other webcomics. Today's comic explains a little bit about why there was such a long break in updating. Sharing lab space is seriously the single most annoying thing anyone can do. You think roommates are bad? They're nothing in comparison. There's a lot I can talk about, given the length of time between the last update and now, but I'm just going to leave this one a little short. I did want to thank everyone for their comments in the thread of the last comic. I wasn't fishing for them when I made the news post, but I was very glad to see them there, so once again, thank you all. [an error occurred while processing this directive] 9/21/08 [an error occurred while processing this directive] I haven't written one of these in a while, so I figured I should. I have no idea what to write here sometimes, whether any of you care about what I'm up to, or just want updates on what's happening with the comic, or what. So I'm just going to ramble some stuff relating to both of them and maybe some kind readers will let me know what they want for the future. Speaking of kind readers, I did want to thank you all for rating the comics. Twenty ratings per comic! It almost makes me feel as though I have an audience! I guess I should also mention that little things like having people rate the comics or post comments or send me emails helps me a lot in doing the comic. Sometimes it takes a little reminding that I am (however slightly) making someone happy to give me the motivation to make more. So a big thank you to everyone who has given me feedback in some form. Today is my first day as a vegan. As reader's of the comic know, I have been a vegetarian for some time now. I won't get into a long discussion about why I made the switch, other than to say that it's for the same reasons that I first became vegetarian. If anyone wants to discuss/debate the issue with me, or has any sage advice to give, I welcome it all (though I reserve the right to use anything stupid you say as material for the next vegetarian themed comic I do). I'm still getting caught up on being sick or two weeks in the start of the semester, so this week is going to be a bit busy, as well the week after next when I have 4 tests. This means no Wednesday comic this week, but then one next week (the 1st), and none the week after (the 8th). Assuming I can finally settle on how to write it, next week will likely see that two-parter I've promised you a few months ago (wow, was it really that long?) [an error occurred while processing this directive] 9/7/08 [an error occurred while processing this directive] Seems I missed an update in there somewhere. Sorry about that. I've come down with some illness - still not sure what - that has kept me out of school for the last week and unable to due much of anything. I'm getting a little better though, so here's an update, with the hope that more will be able to come without delay or hindrance. Just a reminder to please rate the comics. It takes very little time and helps me know what I'm doing well (or not). The last two updates didn't even get enough rating to be listed on the top comics page (they need at least 6). |
