The lab, as I let it last night: external cavity laser, tuned to exact offset, gain, and temperature to scan a precise frequency range without mode hops; perfectly calibrated frequency stabilizer; carefully positioned and angled polarizer; vapor cell held at exactly 80 millitorr and 400C; op amp assembled on breadboard by unknown person. The lab, as I found it this morning: laser and frequency stabilizer far out of tune, looks like a monkey had his way with all the dials; why is there a lens here?; polarizer carelessly tossed aside; vapor cell at 300 toor and 347.8C; wtf is this extra wire doing here? I can't even find find the other end!; marshmellow peeps in october?!? Time lost setting everything back up: 2 hours.
